This is a picture of branches of Roman Republic. I would like to be a senator because I would like to help create the laws of Ancient Rome.
Monarchy to Republic
The Roman government system was originally a monarchy. The people of Rome wanted to switch because they didn't want one person or a group of people to have complete control over Rome. This is called checks and balances. Checks and balances means that another group or groups over throw the group in charge or the laws.
Rome to United States Government
The U.S. government and the Roman government compare and contrast in many ways. One differences are that in the Roman Republic, there are two people in charge, and the the U.S. government, there is only one. Another difference is that the U.S. government the person in charge, which is the president, is president for 4 years, however, the two consuls in the Roman Republic they rule for only one. Some similarities include that both the Roman Republic and the United States both have judges/juries. Another is that the legislative branch both make the laws. One more similar fact is that in both governments, only adults can vote. Even though in Rome you had to be a male landowner, you still have to be an adult in both the U.S. and Roman Republic.
